Marinette Dupain-Cheng, an awkward high-school student, has inherited magical ladybug-shaped earrings. The ornaments grant the power of Luck to whoever wears them. Yet there is one condition: they have to be worn in an altruistic manner, or the user must beware the consequences! Whenever the situation needs it, Marinette becomes Ladybug, and her sidekick Chat Noir fights alongside her. They fight against the evil that threatens their hometown, as the miraculous guardians of Paris.

Shadow Moth, which now calls himself Monarch, has never been so close to victory. He can now give his akumatized victims Miraculous powers and create super ultra-powerful villains. But, again as a duo, our heroes will be more united than they ever were.
On the heart side, it's the waltz of feelings! Marinette, who lost the Miracle Box because of her love for Adrien, decides to turn away from him and begins to take an interest in Cat Noir. At the same time, the latter doesn't feel the same interest in Ladybug because Adrien now recognizes his romantic attraction for Marinette.

Set in modern-day Paris, the series focuses on a teenaged junior high school girl. Marinette Dupain-Cheng and her classmate, Adrien Agreste. When evil arises in Paris, Marinette transforms into Ladybug, while Adrien transforms into Cat Noir.
However, neither know each other's secret identities: Marinette doesn't realise that her school crush, Adrien, is Cat Noir and Cat Noir doesn't know that his partner and crush, Ladybug, is actually Marinette.
Together, they're a crime-fighting duo who protect Paris against the mysterious villain, Hawk Moth and his akuma.
