July 26, 1950. Shortly after 6:25, American forces stationed in North Korea withdrew towards the No Gun Ri bridge. There they met 500 refugees seeking shelter under the bridge and killed over 400 people. Thanks to the contacts with the local government, the episode was passed over in silence.
In 2006, artist Park Kun-woong and Chung Eun-yong published Nogunri Story, Volume 1; Recollecting That Summer Day, a 612-page graphic narrative that told the No Gun Ri story through thousands of drawings. The Korean-language work, based on Chung Eun-yong's 1994 book, was also published in translation in Europe.
